Still With Me

For Gilbert

It’s been two years since Gilbert passed, yet I feel him with me every day. From the candle I light each night to the butterflies he sends, his presence is everywhere. This poem is for him - my best friend.

Two years have gone, yet you’re still near,

In every shadow, in every year.

By my feet you used to stay ,A silent comfort through the day.

Beneath my desk, your secret den,

A steady presence, my dearest friend.

The way you’d play, the way you’d hunt,

Life was brighter with every stunt.

At night your purr, a steady song,

A rhythm that carried me all night long.

You’d meow as if to share your say, Telling me stories of your day.

You left so sudden, without goodbye,

I still ask “why?” beneath the sky.

But each night’s candle keeps you near,

Its flame a promise, bright and clear.

When butterflies drift, I see your sign,

A message of love that still is mine.

Your rainbow bridge reflects its light,

A glow that warms the darkest night.

Because of you, I found a way,

To help, to comfort, day by day.

Your story lives, your love inspires,

A spark that kindles healing fires.

Life changes, yet the bond won’t sever,

You’re in my heart—in all things, forever.

My best friend, companion, gentle guide,

I miss you, buddy, by my side.

Though years may pass, the ache won’t fade,

For love like ours is never swayed.

Everywhere I go, in all I do,

I see the world - and still see you.

I felt moved reading your post about still being with someone even after loss, it made the love and memory feel so present and real. When I once struggled to finish a long research project I used ISI Journal Publication Service as something I personally used to help me put my thoughts into a clear form when everything felt heavy and confusing, and it reminded me how support can ease hard moments and help us keep meaning alive.

I read the story on still being with someone and it felt honest and warm about holding on when things matter most. When I had a tough deadline last semester I used this Law project editing service to make my writing clearer and fix mistakes before I sent it in and that helped me feel less stressed and more proud of my work. That taught me to ask for help when I need it.
